Souletu Spa Pamper Beauty Event

Myself and a good friend of mine, Lynn (Strawberry Patch Photography), were invited to attend the Souletu Spa Ultimate Pamper Party Beauty Event which was hosted at The River Club in Observatory, Cape Town – South Africa.

We were greeted with a welcome drink on arrival and then found our way into the petite holding which was packed to capacity with the volumes of people. Everyone was eagerly awaiting for the event to commence, however, there were a few set-backs which caused a delay.
While waiting for the speakers to arrive, we decided to mingle with the crowd to find out more about the persons attending. Comments were flaring from the critical and anxious crowd.  Nonetheless, the social-interaction with the crowd afforded us with a wonderful opportunity to meet remarkable ladies, who shared stories about their lives and experiences.
After quite some time, the host of this event arrived and the various speakers took to their places. Unfortunately I’m not able to comment on the content of the speakers as we were not able to make out what was being said due to the sound restrictions.
That said, my personal opinion of this event is not a great one. I’m hoping that the next event will be better measured, should the organizer decide to have another one of this nature.

Here is an overview on the event, exposed in the pictures.

Do you let society tell you what to wear?

I have always been a rebel with my dress-code. I could never conform towards society’s suggestive choices for my attire. Religion and Tradition plays a huge role in the manner women conduct themselves and what they ‘should’ wear. I am too much of a liberal and a fashionista to let this determine my life. Recently, with our scorching hot weather conditions – I chose to wear blue denim shorts. I hope with my creative personality that I wore them stylishly. However, this made a few heads role. Why you ask?  I was told: ‘wearing such revealing outfits is not appropriate as a mother’. With this said, my head turned 360 degrees listening to this bogus. Why should women alter their dress-code when married or when they become moms? I chatted to my husband and asked if he found my sense of style offensive. His response was no, as long as I am comfortable I should wear what I desire.

Here is news for the prudes:  This is my life, my personality! I am a mom, I am still an individual (yes –moms remain individuals). I love diversity and will not allow others to change my views. I will continue to dress charmingly fashion-forward by determining my own decorum.

People will always stare no matter what, so I will give them reason to do so. How far you go with fashion should be your own personal choice. With this said, I prefer not walking around in the nude. LOL!
