Kick Start the New Year with Fashion Cotton On BODY Active

Cotton On BODY further cements its position as the go-to lifestyle brand, taking the lead with its new ‘collections by sport’ active range, hitting stores in January. Knowing the BODY girl will be celebrating this festive season, the game changing collection will help kick start the New Year with serious athleticism, plenty of style and motivation to take on 2015.

The range puts a sporty twist on activewear by catering for any arena in which the BODY girl might find herself working up a sweat; at the gym, studio, club or in day-to-day life. It features BODY’s core active pieces as well as everyday basics, with a focus on stripes, hints of bold colour and varsity prints.

‘Collections by sport’ has everything a girl needs to keep fit; from the best high-performance workout bra to essential tights that features moisture wicking technology. It fuses undone styling with technical sportswear.

The Trend

Taking inspiration from the ‘normcore’ fashion trend, combining ‘normal’ and ‘hardcore’, ‘collections by sport’ features a scaled back colour palette to enhance the less-is-more approach, with minimal prints and splashes of blue and red. “Normcore is the biggest trend in fashion right now – we’ve taken it and added the Body touch, with pops of colour and stripes, to create the ultimate sportluxe wear.

“We wanted to create a collection that keeps girls motivated to stick to their New Year’s Resolutions, all year round. The beauty of this range is that it has the ability to take you from the sporting field, to Pilates and then off to brunch,” said Stephanie Keen, Cotton On Body activewear buyer.

Poolside Paradise with Cotton On Body’s Swimwear

Lifestyle and fashion brand, Cotton On Body, reveals its fruity October swimwear with the launch of an active-swim range. Taking inspiration from healthy lifestyles, the Poolside Paradise collection features a blend of cheeky prints, bright and bold pops of colour, retro shapes and a mix and match approach to swimwear.

Then launch of Active Swim

Cotton On Body is launching something new this season. In surfer and scuba-influenced fabrics like neoprene and mesh, with functional, sports-inspired detail, this range is designed with an active lifestyle in mind. Whether it’s paddle boarding, surfing or a morning beach run, these pieces combine the best elements of swimwear and simple activewear. Think: industrial zips, high necks and racer backs.

Pineapples and palm trees

Synonymous with sand between your toes, sun on your skin and salt in your hair, there is nothing more appropriate to turn up the heat on your summer holiday than some sweet, tropical fruit! This year’s take on the tropical print is all about exotic fronds and fruit.  It’s an edgy and playful alternative to feminine florals,” says Maria Strangio, Cotton On Body swimwear buyer. Fun and fruity prints include the bold, all-over palm print; the pineapple motif (either as a strong graphic icon or stamped across a garment) and fruit-flavoured slogans.

Shapes and silhouettes

“We know our girl loves to hit the beach looking hot,” says Maria. “From girly to edgy, Cotton On Body has shapes to suit all bikini babes.”

  • Girly glamour rules poolside this season with rouching, frills and fringing
  • It’s a blast from the past and a return to retro beach attire with balconette booster tops and high waist bottoms
  • Strapping and cut out designs – keep a look out for criss-cross straps, wrapped at the waist in separates and side cut outs and plunging necklines on one pieces

Sea foam is the new black

This spring / summer, it’s all about vibrancy! Bright and bold pops of solid colour coordinated with tropical foliage, floral and tribal botanical prints. “Influenced by the ‘90s, pastels are also big and the hero colour for spring is sea foam,” says Maria. As the weather heats up, so does the palette – towards the end of the season we’ll see juicy pops of melon and coral.

Cotton On Body’s Poolside Paradise swimwear will be available in stores and online from October.

HOT Fashion Trend – Skater/Plimsoll Shoes

Mr Price calls them Plimsoll, Topshop calls them Skaters, I for one am not worried with the name. To me, they are funky, fun and easy to wear with any OOTD taking you from to the office to the nightlife!

HOW TO WEAR THE PLIMSOLL/SKATER FASHION TREND

These fashion babies’ on-trend shoes have being on my wish list for a very long time & have only now recently satisfied my craving. I took the plunge & bought two pairs at Topshop as colour was such a difficult choice. I’ve been waiting for our local Fashion stores to announce their replicas at a more affordable price, but it seems as if its not worth the wait.

Woolworths has done them beautifully in comfort however the colours were neither here nor there.

Foschini’s has it perfect with colour & fabric, but their sizes are a bit larger than usual with these shoes.

Mr. Price has just recent launched their line of Plimsoll at a shocker price of R79. I’ve bought a pair of leopard prints, which I am anxiously waiting for.

Let’s see if the shoe fits?

A Chunk of Gold Accessories

Gold has been a part of my fashion diet forever. I just can’t seem to get enough of it! Gold accessories are the Biggest trend this season warming up your wardrobe. It empowers your outfit in a flash. With all the right pieces you can magically transform yourself into something new.

Adorn yourself with this HOT Trend of gold necklaces. They are seen at ACCESSORIZE!

Here are some tips to find the right gold fashion accessories:

Check the level of gold colour. Beware of neck-wear pieces looking more orange in colour than gold.

Weight is important; you don’t want to feel weighed down, especially if you will be sporting it the entire day. Remember to keep your pieces in cool, dark storage places. Gold may tarnish easily in humidity.

For me quality is essential; you don’t want it crumbling off your neck, while Mr. Hottie is watching.

Here are my MUST Have’s Gold Fashion Necklaces:

Another Reason to Shop at ACCESSORIZE!

Colour me Cobalt

Cobalt aka Electric Blue has been on everyone’s lips.

This bold colour is flowing thru every season. An eye catcher your hips don’t want to miss.

A colour so bright and intense, leaving you feeling cool and fierce. Cobalt is definitely the new black! I cannot resist, but I am using this colour for my wardrobe inspiration – Thursday night Staffparty @MadameZingara.

I want to be daring by wearing it with a pop of lime. Perhaps teaming it up with Bold Statement Silver or Gold accessory? I simply LOVE this colour, as it brings versatility. It makes you look good and feel fabulous at the same time.

If you are colour-shy  (like me) to wear it as a garment, first try it as an accessory, such as a handbag or a shoe. You may even try a belt , as this is seen as a minimal piece.

Here are my  STYLE TIPS “How to Wear Cobalt”

Note to self: Cobalt head to toe is a definite NO-NO or NO-GO!
