McLaren Circus comes to Town

We would often drive pass the build-up at William Herbert sports grounds in Wynberg. This observation would grow our anticipation a little more each time we pass. Our little one was told stories about circus lions, tigers, elephants, snakes, trapeze acts, gymnastics, magic shows and cheeky the clowns and pleaded with us to go.

I do reminiscence of my childhood days, recalling the good times of the Boswell Wilkie Circus. These are good memories which will last a lifetime :) However, here and now is McLaren Circus, good old-fashion entertainment at our doorstep filled with lots of fun for whole family.

McLaren Circus showcases both local and international performers.

The artists make their incredible acrobatics look so natural and effortless, but I am sure it requires lots of hard work and training. It will probably take me a decade, if not longer, to master all those moves. My nerves were finished as I kept gasping at the acts. I kept reminding my daughter not to try these stunts at home. My favorite act was the Dare-Devil, he really lives up to his wild and daring reputation. He is a definite must-see. I cannot publish details, as this would just spoil all the fun!

My eyes were closed for Python snake show. The sight of snakes just gives me cold shivers. These pythons looked so overweight and plump, I kept on thinking about how many rats were in their tummies.

After stuffing our mouths with an overload of popcorn and candy-floss during the impressive performance, the entire audience was privy to view the animals outside the circus arena. The kids could go for horse rides, feed a few animals and NO…we would not dare feed the lions.
