Baking is great for social development as it teaches toddlers the importance of  teamwork and patience.
My little toddler learnt very quickly that every ingredient, with the precise measurement, has a purpose and results in a delicious cookie. The baking procedure got my little munchkin happily singing the Alphabet song whilst we were mixing the cookie dough.
She was constantly asking questions, her mind was running wild as she excitedly worded all the family members names together.
Sprinkles were flying everywhere, including her tummy.
These were proud mommy moments and happy moments for a little toddler experimenting, and of course, eating the cookies.
Thank you to Pollywiggles South Africa for the gift.

My Little Girl

My little girl is tiny no more.
Embracing the world with smiles and giggles galore.
Loves to sing, clap her hands, boogie and dance

My little girl is a reminder to always be kind.
Her unconditional love is truly a rare find.
My Cupcake, my treasure, a beauty so innocent & true.
When I am around you, I can never be blue.

My little girl is a princess to me,
Sprinkling hugs and kisses.
This is a blessing with all God’s riches

Preparation for ‘Big’ School

So, my daughter goes to ‘BIG’ school next year!
nachi,blogger,capetown,school,south africa,award winning,best blog
I’m already having visions of the First Day of me feeling like a bundle of nerves bursting into tears.

Nonetheless, here we go with determination as we keep on living.
There has been a continuous hunt for the ‘right’ school and this has not been an easy task.

A few schools, I think, hand-picked drill sergeants from the military to be at their frontline to personally interrogate you.
This left me feeling a bit snubbed especially by the type of questions they ask.
‘Where do you live?’ seems to be on all their lips! ‘Why don’t you enlist in your surrounding area?’
Seriously? Did she just ask that? I felt like responding – don’t you think I thought about that already?
Obviously, I have my motives for wanting to enlist.
They tell you famous stories of how thousands upon thousands of applications are already in waiting.

Reading thru the admission forms is something on its own.
Be careful before you sign on the dotted line. I had to read the forms at least three times before I felt comfortable.
I have heard heart breaking stories about the meeting process.  Tiny people are engaged thru a discussion similar ‘to that of a ‘job interview’

Though, I should say there are schools that are welcoming. You can see their smiles are genuine, allowing you to view the grounds and answering questions settling a few concerns.

This brings about a warm fuzzy feeling and you know this is the ‘right’ school.

A wise friend told me, you just got to leave it in God’s hands and believe that He will give you direction.

Steady yourselves Moms, rocky roads ahead. Get a head-start by viewing the schools ahead of time that you may eliminate the ‘drill sergeants’.

Momster O’clock

With a busy lifestyle, eat, work and play. Time plays a vital role to cramp all activities into a single day. I have a constant battle with time! Always feeling a sense of anxiety, especially in the morning.
Packing lunch, yelling at the top of my voice ‘Come on guys we gonna be late’. Whenever I feel that everyone is not working around my clock,  I turn into this morning monster. The entire household gets turned upside down (topsy turfy). I often forget to breathe & realize that I only have two hands.
Being snappy and impatient is not gonna slow down time.
Why should my family suffer my wrath & have their days be ruined.
I have to remember that I have to set the example and be a role model, My behavior will be re-enacted by my daughter.
Light bulb mo: A change is needed!
First on the agenda: Start off the day with prayer! Inhale deeply and remind myself to let go and let God take charge of my day.
Still, keeping my horns at bay and without them peeping out, respond calmly with a good attitude and smile.
Communication is key, if I ask politely maybe they will listen.
Patience with others is love. Gentle love.
As a new mom, my favorite phrase was; my little girl is going to teach me patience.
This is true; she is a gift from God. I am here to see the world thru her eyes and learn so many things.

Note to self:
Always remain calm in the storm.
Pray for guidance.

Breaking away from the norm…

My husband and I have become accustom to the likes of Spur.
Why? This was the restaurant we preferred due to the Kiddies play area. When we are at Spur we can enjoy good conversation while our daughter had the time of her life.
Yesterday, we decided to break this monotonous pattern. We searched on Four-square and found nearby eateries and drove to Tashas at Constantia Village.

Tashas has a great ambiance, very upmarket and definitely a notch up from Spur.
We were greeted by smiles from every corner and easily seated to our comfort. Our daughter had a special introduction by management who made her feel like a rock star.

This restaurant vibe leaves you feeling laid back whilst you sip on a good cappuccino.
The menu has a great assortment for breakfast which leaves you confused, as everything just smells so delicious.
I opted for the Livers on Toast. This left a wow in my mouth, bursting with an explosion of flavors.

Livers on Toast

Their portions are enormous which certainly fills the gap, but too huge to for a little girl. I would propose, as there were many kids at the venue- a kiddies menu should be considered.
Nonetheless, our meals were divine.
Tashas is a pet friendly restaurant, so don’t be too surprised if you find dogs coming to lick your toes.
This kept our daughter very entertained.

I could sit there for hours and just bask in the sun and taste the variety of refreshing drinks.
Would I go ahead; yes :)
It was a great experience!
Here is a farewell to Spur for now!

A Tribute to a friend

Saying goodbye is never easy…

A Tribute to a friend

I had the pleasure of meeting a very unique individual, Gretchen Aysen.

A woman, whom I thought was indifferent to others.

Time past between us and I got to know her a bit more with each day passing.

We shared stories and found our lives were not that diverse and found a common ground in our faith – Christianity and in our joy of being moms.

A friendship was encouraged with laughs, our patience as moms and for the love of our God.

There were tough times which we both endured, nonetheless supporting each other we grew only but closer with our connection.

I have erudite some valuable lessons with the time we spent together.

Trust and integrity was the core of our relationship.

I had to say goodbye to you as an assistant, but I gained a wonderful friend.

You are going to bloom wherever your journey takes you, as I have the confidence knowing God is with you.

Gretchen has so much to give, especially in spirit.

I feel blessed knowing you.

Ready to embrace 2014??

unnamed
Out with the old in with the New!!
This is usually how I like to end off the year.
Cleaning out my wardrobe, anything I did not wear does not deserve a chance in 2014.
I apply this to my daughter’s closet as well, as with her toys.
Think of all the unprivileged that you can help with this simple task.
Next step is my hair! Booking a make-over session with my trusted stylist. I like to experiment by trying out a new colour. Then saying Bye Bye split ends. Hello new Me! Let’s get ready to meet 2014 with a Bang!
Then hmmmm… shy to say, yes let’s re-activate that gym membership.

Looking back at 2013, it has been a crappy year with my health. Never thought I would end up in hospital. Therefore, 2014 I vow to live a healthier lifestyle. Yes to fruits and veg accompanied by lots of Yoga to de-stress. And of Course on top of my list – Spending lots of TLC with my daughter!

My motto for 2014! Just let it go! Leave it to God to sort it out for you. He has bigger plans for 2014.

Goodbye 2013!

You made me laugh, you made me cry!

2014! I CAN I WILL end of story…

The Joys of Motherhood

Our little angels

Our little angels

Motherhood brings many changes, some may call sacrifices! I call them joys. A special joy, unknown to me before, truly UNCONDITIONAL love <3

The twinkle in my monsters eyes never makes me feel that 9months of weight gain was in Vain.

Children are truly Heaven-Sent! Blessings from God! A reminder to us all, they are hold the keys to heaven.

I promise to treasure my little angel till eternity…

Psalm 127:

Behold,  children are a heritage from The Lord, the fruit of womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!  He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
