Hold onto your sombrero! Savanna, the popular premium cider with a taste for the unexpected, has gone loco with the launch of a bold new special release cider, combining the crisp taste of Savanna Dry with fresh tequila flavour.
Savanna Loco, the new game changer for Savanna, is the first of its kind in South Africa. By adding a “leeedle crazy” to this special release cider, Savanna has shown it has the apples to do new things.
If you don’t take life too seriously and prefer breaking from the norm, you’ll love this latest mash-up brought to you by your favourite cider.
Expect a surge of mariachi madness on your tongue when you take your first sip of Savanna Loco. It’s crisp, fresh and well-balanced with an alcohol content of 6%. The “leeedle” twist of tequila flavour adds a distinct freshness and hints of citrus to the crisp apple cider, culminating in a refreshingly smooth, dry taste that leaves you wanting more.
Look out for new Savanna Loco with its vibrant turquoise packaging at your local city hang-outs, bars and Mexican restaurants. You can also find it at leading stores retailing at around R74.95 per 6-pack.
Savanna Loco is best enjoyed ice cold, from the bottle with a juicy wedge of lemon in the neck. And if you have the apples – why not add a pinch of salt to the mix too!
I confess…I was the chick that over plucked my eyebrows when I was in high school and now live to tell the tale. Enjoy the story on my eyebrows…
As I am of Indian descend, I was blessed with bushy hair, bushy brows and thank goodness, no bushy mustache. The bushy eyebrows were something that really annoyed me when I hit my teenage years. All of us can relate to the the fact that when you are in your teens, it’s all about being beautiful and fabulous.
Without a mom to guide me, as well as living a specific lifestyle in the Cape flats, the pleasures of waxing and threading were completely oblivious to me. Back then, the only thing I was familiar with were tweezers. My fingers became tweezer happy, and before I knew it, my beautiful brows were history. As I grew older, I longed to have them back. I tried all sorts of miracle creams and vitamins. You name it, I’ve tried it! I lost all hope of having them back and resorted to shading them in everyday.I started to resent the decisions I made as a teenager and came to the conclusion that the situation I was in couldn’t be it. There just had to be answer to this very common problem.
This is when I discovered micro blading. I was fascinated by this beauty cosmetic procedure.
However, being the skeptic that I am, I was a bit hesitant at first. After all, this latest cosmetic exercise was a permanent one and there would be no turning back. Besides, this is my face we talking about and this would ultimately be a lifetime choice.
I did tons of research online and even included a few visits to various cosmetics houses to gain as much insight into this procedure as possible. After all of this I finally made up my mind and decided that this is the route I wanted to take. The company that won me over was Powderpuff/Lisl Boshoff, situated in Strand, Cape Town – South Africa. I have followed her for months and have read numerous client reviews. I really appreciated the fact that she posted her work on her site for potential clientele to view her skills.
When I met with her, she explained briefly that micro blading is a form of tattooing, with a 3D effect to give the illusion of hair strokes..
The procedure including consultation was approximately 2 hours. The longest part of the session was waiting for the aesthetic to numb the brow area. You do not feel a thing – it literally feels like someone is drawing lines on your eye brow area. It is generally recommended that you come back in 6 weeks for a touch up, thereafter it should last you between one and two years depending how you manage your brows with the aftercare instructions. It takes approximately 5-10days to heal, and once the scabs fall off, you ready to go.
Prices range between R1700 to R3000.I can honestly say that I am extremely happy with the end results and definitely recommend this procedure to any person lacking eyebrow’s…like I did

I’m not one for Arts and Culture but decided to step out of my comfort zone to attend The Cape Town Fringe Festival. That said, I am so glad that I did! The vibe at the Cape Town City Hall is awesome! This event is an absolute hive of excitement, stirring up the Mother City with a host of over 100 remarkable shows which commenced on the 25th of September and will run up until the 5th October. This is made possible by the Grahamstown National Arts Festival team, and supported by the City of Cape Town, Standard Bank,567 Cape Talk and MNet. The Cape Town Fringe Festival offers an array of exciting performances which caters for all personality types.
Another fabulous attraction at this event is The Fringe Club. An awesome spot to chill, catch-up, and enjoy free wi-fi while having a few drinks and a bite to eat. It’s the perfect place to keep you entertained in between shows. You also have the opportunity to meet and mingle with the performers of your favorite productions. Happy Hour is between 4pm to 6pm everyday and there are some fantastic lunch deals happening with participating performances at 1pm weekdays. For an extra R20 you get a cooldrink and sandwhich delivered to the show you are viewing. You just get to relax, enjoy lunch with your choice of entertainment.
As mentioned earlier in this post, stepping out of my comfort zone, I decided that my first stop would be Ashes to Ashes, a theatre production about a psychologically traumatized wife (Terry Norton who stars as Rebecca ) preoccupied by her past life experiences. Her much questioned husband (Mark Elderkin who stars as Devlin) eagerly probes her for answers wants her to come to terms with the abuse she has endure with the horrible loss of her baby and the abusiveness of a previous partner. This show is director by Gabriella Pinto is shown at City Hall 3 from 25 to 29 September, City Hall 3 (Theatre) at R70 per ticket. I must say these actors are amazing, I could feel the frustration and relief throughout the production. A true work of art!
