How to get your eyebrows back

I confess…I was the chick that over plucked my eyebrows when I was in high school and now live to tell the tale. Enjoy the story on my eyebrows…

Permanent makeup, cape town beauty house, busy brows, teenage beauty, cosmetic procedure, microstroking, 3d brows, microblading

As I am of Indian descend, I was blessed with bushy hair, bushy brows and thank goodness, no bushy mustache. The bushy eyebrows were something that really annoyed me when I hit my teenage years. All of us can relate to the the fact that when you are in your teens, it’s all about being beautiful and fabulous.
Without a mom to guide me, as well as living a specific lifestyle in the Cape flats, the pleasures of waxing and threading were completely oblivious to me. Back then, the only thing I was familiar with were tweezers. My fingers became tweezer happy, and before I knew it, my beautiful brows were history. As I grew older, I longed to have them back. I tried all sorts of miracle creams and vitamins. You name it, I’ve tried it! I lost all hope of having them back and resorted to shading them in everyday.I started to resent the decisions I made as a teenager and came to the conclusion that the situation I was in couldn’t be it. There just had to be answer to this very common problem.

This is when I discovered micro blading. I was fascinated by this beauty cosmetic procedure.
However, being the skeptic that I am, I was a bit hesitant at first. After all, this latest cosmetic exercise was a permanent one and there would be no turning back. Besides, this is my face we talking about and this would ultimately be a lifetime choice.

I did tons of research online and even included a few visits to various cosmetics houses to gain as much insight into this procedure as possible. After all of this I finally made up my mind and decided that this is the route I wanted to take. The company that won me over was Powderpuff/Lisl Boshoff, situated in Strand, Cape Town – South Africa. I have followed her for months and have read numerous client reviews. I really appreciated the fact that she posted her work on her site for potential clientele to view her skills.
When I met with her, she explained briefly that micro blading is a form of tattooing, with a 3D effect to give the illusion of hair strokes..

The procedure including consultation was approximately 2 hours. The longest part of the session was waiting for the aesthetic to numb the brow area. You do not feel a thing – it literally feels like someone is drawing lines on your eye brow area. It is generally recommended that you come back in 6 weeks for a touch up, thereafter it should last you between one and two years depending how you manage your brows with the aftercare instructions. It takes approximately 5-10days to heal, and once the scabs fall off, you ready to go.

Prices range between R1700 to R3000.I can honestly say that I am extremely happy with the end results and definitely recommend this procedure to any person lacking eyebrow’s…like I did 

How to Strobe vs Contouring

To strobe..or not to strobe

Nachi cape town blogger, top south Africa beauty blog, cape town beauty blogger, best blog, strobing, contouring, highlighting face, make up tips, beauty tip, how to strobe, face, features, Kardashian, facial shapes, Kim Kardashian, fashion, lifestyle, how to do your make up
We live in a generation where media and celebrities influence us daily. One of the most popular beauty icons are The Kardashians. They have been on the map for a few years, with their following growing daily. They are absolutely on trend whether it’s fashion, beauty, their lifestyle or just a bit of gossip.

I follow them for beauty trends, as the make-up artists that work on them are amazing. I believe Kim Kardashian started the whole “contouring” revolution. Contouring was always around; I just think they really made it trendy which we now follow.
Contouring can really enhance your features and make you look like a top model…or you can ruin your face for the moment. Although contouring looks amazing, it really takes skill and practice. I get the “please contour my face,” request with just about every makeup application But wouldn’t it be nice to have a contoured look in the comfort of your own home without paying for a makeup artist if you’re just going to the mall ?Good news.. You can !
I think everyone has somewhere seen “strobing vs contouring” and a how to video. I would recommend that you watch it!

Nachi cape town blogger, top south Africa beauty blog, cape town beauty blogger, best blog, strobing, contouring, highlighting face, make up tips, beauty tip, how to strobe, face, features, Kardashian, facial shapes, Kim Kardashian, fashion, lifestyle, how to do your make up
Strobing and contouring are opposites with the same function. When contouring you create shadows on the face that creates the illusion of depth, where strobing/highlighting brings forward. Combining the two you can shape your face and “correct” facial features.
My personal opinion is that strobing is easier than contouring and it gives you a nice glow and fresh faced look !
When strobing/contouring it’s important to know what face shape you have so you can contour/strobe so it would benefit your features.

That is just a little insight into strobing.

Have fun on your face !

RubyBox Beauty Spoils

Being spoiled on your birthday makes you feel pretty special I can admit. But how would you feel about 12 spoils a year? I like that idea a lot! We are really going to miss you Rubybox, since you have discontinued the monthly box ☹
The last of the Beauty Rubybox spoils : Roll-on deodorant from Natural Lab, face wash from
Nutri Women and a Lipice/lip conditioner from Softlips.
Nachi top beauty blogger, top cape town blogger, beauty blog, deodorant, perfume, softlips, conditioner, nutri women, face/bodypaint, vitamins and natural oils, lip ice, blistex, rubybox, wet wipes, beauty review, beauty tips, natural lab, beauty facewash, how to use facewash
I used theNatural Lab roll-on for about a week just to test it and see if it holds up to the purpose of deodorant. It surely kept the same fragrance throughout the day. This is a natural roll-on and you can clearly tell that by the smell of it. I’m not a huge fan of natural oils as deodorant or perfume, but hay “if it works, it works!”

I’m a lip gloss & lip ice kinda girl ! I always have lip-ice or Blistex with me. It helps keep my lips moisturized for when the need for lipart or lipstick is required. What I found with this softlips lip conditioner is that for me personally it works best when I apply it before I go bed. You will definitely wake up with the best Softlips, soft lips ever ! Smooches*

Now my favorite product is the Nutri Women skin perfect face wash. It is the most amazing face wash ever, and trust me when I say I have experimented with every face wash.
With all the creative makeup and face/body paint I have realized I spend way too much money on wet wipes. After using this beauty Nutri Women skin perfect wash, I have I had no colour pigment left in my pores like per norm. The thick soapy texture really lifts all dirt and unnecessary oils from the skin and leaves its clean, smooth and soft. The smell is amazing and and with all the different vitamins and natural oils, it’s really beneficial to your skin. I will purchase this product in a few weeks since I’m almost out.

One Beauty Look with One Brand!

I’m without a doubt one of the biggest Inglot Cosmetics Beauty junkies known to the makeup addiction clan!

I own roughly 45 lipsticks, 5 mascaras, 70 eye shadows, 10 foundations, 12 concealers, 8 blush colours and plenty more. That said, I’m pretty sure I can achieve about a 100 different looks with my collection!

Unfortunately, at this stage I can’t make a video of this just yet, but it is a work in progress and will be up soon.

Well let’s start!

First rule… Let’s not be basic!

Inglot beauty junkies, Inglot lipsticks, Inglot mascaras, Inglot eyeshadow, Inglot foundations, primer, inglot top beauty review, nachi cape town beauty blogger, good skin, make up, top south Africa beauty blog, everyday beauty looks, Volume & Waterproof mascara

I will be doing a day look. Most people immediately think a day look should be natural colours only. Well, to me blue and purple comes naturally  I have really dry skin due to medication that’s supposed to help clear up your skin, therefore it is important to start with a *Primer.

After the primer has settled on my skin I will use my *Cream foundation in number 26. Cream based foundation works well with dry or dehydrated skin.

After the foundation, I would check to see if I have any blemishes or dark circles that I have/want to cover. I don’t normally have spots but I kind of always have darker circles under my eyes. I will fix this with a *yellow cream concealer. I’ll use it under my eye and blend it onto the top of my cheekbones and onto my eyelid just to use it as a base.

I will then set the concealer with the *Translucent Mattifying Press Powder and just slightly dust it over the other areas of my face.

I fill in my brows with the *348 Eye shadow shade, yes I know it’s almost black, well I do have black brows #giggles

Next step starting with my eye shadow, for the look I’m wanting to achieve, I wont really be working on the eyelid, but more as cut/crease Smokey effect. I ALWAYS use *351 as a base just to make blending other colours easier to work with – think of it like transition colour. I will use this over my whole lid and brow bone.

I have decided to use black and purple eye shadow, with a small fluffy brush. I’ll apply *348/dark grey eye shadow in the creases of my eye and blend it out and upwards, trying to keep my lid three quarters clear. Just to create more depth I add a bit of * 391/black eye shadow in the crease and just let it blend with the lighter base to create the Smokey effect.

Now you will see where the POP/WOW factor comes in. I love using shades of purple even when working on clients (depending on what they want). For the simple reason that purple goes with all eye colours, I decided on two shades of purple. A more glitter* 440/lilac for the inner corner of my eye that will continue on my bottom lash line all the way to the outer corner. My second purple will be rich in colour. I’ll then apply* 491/dark purple over my light purple from the outer corner of my eye moving inwards till about three quarters of the way.
I then apply *Volume & Waterproof mascara to finish of my eyes.

Inglot beauty junkies, Inglot lipsticks, Inglot mascaras, Inglot eyeshadow, Inglot foundations, primer, inglot top beauty review, nachi cape town beauty blogger, good skin, make up, top south Africa beauty blog, everyday beauty looks, Volume & Waterproof mascara

For my lips I mix *36/pastel purple and *34/pink together for a soft pastel pink purple look.
Lastly I want to contour my face and give it back its 3D features that were taken away by the foundation – remember that all foundations do that, since the whole idea is to get your face one colour. I’ll use the *34 Face blush on my cheekbones and a bit on my temples. Lastly, for a bit of dewy skin effect, I use *397/rose gold eye shadow as a high lighter above my cheekbones and on the bridge of my nose.

The reason I‘ve chosen this look? Simple – I was able to use my most favorite Inglot beauty products! They are truly amazing! My top 4 would definitely be the * cream foundation, *mascara, * blush and * translucent powder. I would have loved to provide you with my “Top 100 List” but alas, maybe in a future post 😉

My all-time much-loved thing about Inglot is the freedom system. Being able to create your own pallet with only the colours you need, is truly amazing! No one has the money to pay for things you will never be using.

Show me your favorite Inglot product/s and how you like to use them by using the hashtag #friendsofMelissani on Instagram or Facebook and stand a chance to be featured in my media accounts.

Oh and don’t forget…Have fun with it! Let’s not be basic <3

Not just another lip

With the winter upon us, clothes get thicker and colours get darker! Winter is definitely my favorite time of year, for one simple reason – BOLD LIPS! I can un-shamefully admit that I am a follower of the bold lip trend. Whether its deep browns, reds, oranges or the very popular purple black colour.

Beauty winter trend, Essence lip liner, Inglot lipstick, shade 65, Essence Transparent lip liner, bold lips, Nachi Cape Town Top Beauty Blogger, beauty products, make up, cosmetics, cape town, beauty review, how to wear beauty lipstick, top beauty products

These colours work very well with all skin tones, but the down side to these dark colours is that they “bleed”. When you apply a dark colour, they start bleeding over the lip line due to really fine lines/wrinkles and pores on the skin and lip. An easy way to prevent lipstick from bleeding is to use a lip liner.

Beauty winter trend, Essence lip liner, Inglot lipstick, shade 65, Essence Transparent lip liner, bold lips, Nachi Cape Town Top Beauty Blogger, beauty products, make up, cosmetics, cape town, beauty review, how to wear beauty lipstick, top beauty products

Lip liner has a thicker texture than lipstick and lip-gloss, almost a bit waxier. Depending on your personal lifestyle, you would either buy a lip liner that matches your lipstick or that might be a shade darker/lighter.

I own about 43 lipstick shades and as much I would love to buy a lip liner for every colour, my wallet wouldn’t be too happy about it!

Prepared to be amazed…This one specific beauty product saved me from 43 lip liners and it cost me less than R30.

Beauty winter trend, Essence lip liner, Inglot lipstick, shade 65, Essence Transparent lip liner, bold lips, Nachi Cape Town Top Beauty Blogger, beauty products, make up, cosmetics, cape town, beauty review, how to wear beauty lipstick, top beauty products

The one and only Essence Transparent lip liner – This liner creates the thicker texture and barrier that you need to prevent your lipstick from bleeding over your lip line. The liner being transparent makes it useable for any and every lipstick you can possibly get your hands on. In my opinion and testing, it’s definitely worth the buy!
I know a lot of people have trouble applying dark lipstick. How do I know this? Well, I was one of them. If you mess up the lip line you end up staining your foundation. And honestly no one feels like redoing foundation!

Beauty winter trend, Essence lip liner, Inglot lipstick, shade 65, Essence Transparent lip liner, bold lips, Nachi Cape Town Top Beauty Blogger, beauty products, make up, cosmetics, cape town, beauty review, how to wear beauty lipstick, top beauty products

I just took a few photos that will hopefully help you line your lip with dark and light colours.

The beauty products used in the pictures above are Essence lip liner and Inglot lipstick in Shade 65.

“And that’s all I have to say about that”

I hope this give you a better idea and understanding of how spice up your lips during the winter season.

Most importantly…have fun with it!

Airbrush Make-up ~ Melissani Beauty Expert

Airbrush makeup – this is definitely the new “BIG THING” in the world of beauty!

I was fortunate enough to add airbrush makeup to my skill-set with 5 days of intense training. Passing with a distinction, I fell in love with the art of airbrush!

Temptu beauty makeup, airbrushing, contouring make up, make up products, Temptu SB. silicone based, flawless skin, red spots, pimples, bridal make up, make up powder, nachi cape town beauty blogger, make up blog, top sa blog, famous blogger, Melissani make up artist, south African beauty blogger, beauty blog, mermaid art

For some of us, before we get the opportunity to really learn and test something ourselves, we tend to go on what we hear about a certain something (big mistake). By word of mouth I heard that airbrush makeup feels heavy on the skin and is not worth the “fafh”…. WRONG! In short I’ll tell you exactly why airbrush makeup is worth the “fafh”, what the benefits are and when the best time is for airbrush makeup.

Temptu beauty makeup, airbrushing, contouring make up, make up products, Temptu SB. silicone based, flawless skin, red spots, pimples, bridal make up, make up powder, nachi cape town beauty blogger, make up blog, top sa blog, famous blogger, Melissani make up artist, south African beauty blogger, beauty blog, mermaid art Temptu beauty makeup, airbrushing, contouring make up, make up products, Temptu SB. silicone based, flawless skin, red spots, pimples, bridal make up, make up powder, nachi cape town beauty blogger, make up blog, top sa blog, famous blogger, Melissani make up artist, south African beauty blogger, beauty blog, mermaid art

Since airbrush makeup started making it’s mark, it was only for the rich and famous used on models and celebs. Now a perfect makeup application that lasts 14+ hours is available to any and everyone 

What I really like about airbrush makeup is the full coverage the foundation gives you, and yet it remains really light in texture and gives your face a flawless matt appearance. Perfect for all skin types – especially oily skin. Full coverage is possible with the minimal amount of product.

Finding your exact foundation is so easy as you are able to create a mixture, which matches the exact foundation colour you are looking for. Not a lot of women know about this but the dark circles and red spots/pimples are so easy to conceal with colours like green, peach and even red. These colours can be mixed into your foundation and will really give you a flawless even skin tone.

The perfect foundation in my opinion would definitely be the Temptu SB (silicone based foundation) water and sweat resistant! An example for using this product would be for all the future brides to be. I would highly recommend this for you big day. You need makeup that would need to last all day – early start to the day followed with tons of photos and ending off with a late night. Not to forget a few tears here and there.

The amazing thing about airbrush makeup is that you can combine it with your normal makeup. So you can still have that perfect smokey eye and strong contouring effect if desired. The Temptu foundations are really forgiving products and so easy for everyday use. The system has contouring and blush colours for those who have mastered the art. If not, it allows you to work on the face with powders.

Come on now ladies! Don’t be scared to try something new.

Feel free to leave a comment on this post if you have any questions about this. I’ll make sure to respond 
